Concerts are held at the Civic Centre, High Street, Berkhamsted, HP4 3HD immediately opposite Waterstones.
Concerts begin at 8:00pm, end 10:20pm
Doors open 7:15pm; interval of 20 mins
There is wheelchair access for the disabled. There are some parking spaces on the High Street and plenty in the car park behind the shops opposite, and a major new multistorey car park by Waitrose, off Lower Kings Road. Car parks are typically free for evening use.
Refreshments – BYOB !
We present live jazz of all kinds in a relaxed club atmosphere, typically laid out with tables rather than lecture style.
2021/22 Concerts for the first time offer Bring Your Own Bottle, as the bar is no longer available.
We are gaining experience of BYOB and have started to offer a limited range of soft drinks, alcohol-free beer and snacks, plus reusable plastic glasses to borrow.
All around the Civic Centre there is a wide variety of bars and restaurants for pre and post-concert refreshments.
Covid measures are agreed with the Civic Centre management. One measure is opening external and internal doors to increase the flow of fresh air – this worked well in the September and October concerts with no interference with the concert. We also ask attendees to wear masks on entry and as they move around. BYOB means we avoid crowding in the foyer and bar area and we aim to ensure the layout enables suitable social distancing within a reduced capacity.
The Civic Centre has an excellent piano available for our performers. This Yamaha piano is tuned and maintained by Juniper Pianos (est. 1948). For all tuning, repairs, sales and removals: phone: 0800-458-4012 email: email@example.com
