Venue
Since 1981 BJazz concerts have been held Civic Centre, High Street, Berkhamsted, HP4 3HD immediately opposite Waterstones.
It is an excellent venue for live music, wood panelled, with good acoustics, a stage and a high quality Yamaha piano which BJazz helped purchase and maintains in concert-ready state. We are grateful to Dacorum Council for enabling such a great venue to be rented by BJazz.
Concerts begin at 8:00pm, end 10:30pm
Doors open 7:15pm; interval of 20-30 mins
Upto 3 times a year we have a Support Act, in which case Doors 6:45, Support Act 7:10-7:50 and main act 8:00.
There are plenty of parking spaces in Berkhamsted, but Saturdays are busy so leave time to walk from the main car parks behind the High Street, including the major new multistorey car park by Waitrose, off Lower Kings Road. Car parks are usually free for evening use.
There is wheelchair access. To be sure of the best place in the auditorium for wheelchairs we recommend coming early.
We present live jazz of all kinds in a relaxed atmosphere, typically laid out with tables rather than lecture style.
The BJazz Bar
Hosted by Maggie Procopi, the BJazz Bar serves a wide range of drinks including wine, spirits, local ales (Tring and Mad Squirrel), plus soft drinks and bar snacks. Orders will be taken for interval drinks, and we encourage this to help reduce crowding at the interval. Card payment is necessary.
