Jazz Samba! A range of latin jazz, including music from Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd's ground-breaking 1962 recording, the first ever fully fledged bossa nova album recorded by American jazz musicians. The original Jazz Samba!

Mark Crooks is a lyrical and passionate saxophonist in the Stan Getz mould. He is a long-standing member of the John Wilson Orchestra with which he has played regularly at BBC Proms.

Guitarist Nigel Price is one of the unsung heroes of the British Jazz Scene with over 500 appearances at Ronnie Scott’s, 3 years with the James Taylor Quartet and winner of the British Jazz Awards and Parliamentary Jazz Awards.

Percussionist Demi Garcia Sabat brings a wealth of experience in Flamenco, jazz, Arabic, Latin, Iberian Folk and pop music.

Marianne Windham, the founder of Guildford Jazz and a well-respected and in demand double bass player.

The quintet line-up also features John Cervantes on piano, whose strong roots in the swinging jazz tradition are overlaid with classical and world music influences in, as he puts it, his “quest to express those undefinable flashes of life, creation, emotion & passion that make music so powerful”

Natty Purbrick (p) and Clémentine Arnold (v):

Natty Purbrick is a composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Brighton/London. His work covers a wide variety of genres, ensemble size and type.  Here he plays with a vocalist and friend Clementine Arnold, both having appeared at BJazz in previous Seasons.

Natty Purbrick: From 2023-2025 he studied at the Purcell School for Young Musicians with a bursary studying composition under Gareth Moorcraft. He has worked as an intern Peter Michael Davison: assisting with composition for video-Game RuneScape DragonWilds, and worked in recording sessions alongside film composer Danny Elfman.

His works well-reviewed works are self-released, including two studio-produced large jazz songs - BIRD SONG and When My Thoughts Forget Me (feat. Clem Arnold). Since graduating Natty has received commissions for Purcell School projects and concerts, as well as independent film composition work for production studios. He has played piano in jazz ensembles in venues across London, such as a sold out show at Pizza Express Soho Jazz, and at BJazz, and regularly composes for and performs with large jazz ensembles across London, run by brother Luke Purbrick. In September 2026 he started his undergraduate studies at The Guildhall School with a scholarship award.

Clémentine Arnold: Clémentine is a 19-year-old jazz vocalist and multi-instrumentalist specialising in Jazz Voice at the Royal Academy of Music where she gained a place with a scholarship in 2024. Originally from Surrey, she is an award-winning musician, having been named Trinity Music Academy’s Musician of the Year in 2023.

Clémentine began studying classical recital piano at the age of three, but eventually found her strongest musical instinct was in singing at around age 13. She went on to explore classical music and musical theatre, alongside developing as a pianist and composer. This broad musical background has strongly informed the authentic sound she has developed as a jazz musician today.

Clémentine’s passion for jazz developed during her time at The Purcell School for Young Musicians, where she initially joined as a classical composer before re-auditioning for Jazz Voice (and second study jazz piano) after discovering the school’s jazz department. From here on, Clémentine has performed at venues including PizzaExpress Live in Soho, the Southbank Centre and BJazz, as well as alongside established jazz musicians including Mark Nightingale and Alec Dankworth. She has also performed internationally as keyboard player and backing vocalist for rock icon Orianthi (known for playing with Michael Jackson) as well as being a guest twice on ’The Guilty Feminist’ live shows (at the Marlowe Theatre Canterbury and the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo).

Alongside her studies, Clémentine performs at  private events with a band whose repertoire spans jazz and popular music, and regularly gigs at the Marian Anderson in Farringdon. She also produces her own occasional self-accompanied concert series, An Evening with Clémentine, at a local church which has attracted audiences across the Surrey community.

Clémentine’s voice has been described as mature, sultry and possessing an “old soul” quality, and she is equally at home with a swinging jazz standard or a melancholic ballad. Alongside performing, Clémentine remains passionate about composition and songwriting. She is currently developing her own material, with a particular interest in singer-songwriter music, and hopes to record and perform her original music in London and beyond in the future.
