DESCRIPTION:Piano led trio plays stylish jazz standards and some of Gabriel’s own compositions from his award winning releases. \nBritish pianist\, composer and bandleader\, Gabriel Latchin has made a name for himself as one of the UK’s finest musicians\, praised by critics and world renowned musicians alike. Known for his effortlessly swinging feel\, deep repertoire and compelling performances\, Jazzwise recently described his playing as “impeccable… the clarity of his lines evoking something of Hank Jones or Tommy Flanagan”. \nLatchin works with a first-call London rhythm section – Jeremy Brown (a recent change to the line-up) on bass\, and Josh Morrison on drums. Recognised as a talented composer\, Latchin’s writing is fresh and original\, while reflecting his serious study of the jazz piano tradition – Herbie Hancock\, Bill Evans\, Art Tatum\, Phineas Newborn and Barry Harris are his idols. \nGabriel has been recording tracks for his new album. You can listen to “Says Who?”\, the first single\, here. It is a typical bebop melody and is based on Gershwin’s “But Not for Me”. It features the amazing Joe Farnsworth on drums. The second single from his upcoming album is called “A Mother’s Love” and you can pre-save it (or later listen to it) here.
